Twenty-one banks announce their stablecoin. What they haven't announced.

On 1 September, twenty-one of the world's largest financial institutions announced that they were jointly creating a dollar stablecoin. The press release gives neither the name of the company, nor that of the token, nor the blockchain. And a US rule already deprives them of their only obvious selling point.

49 to 50: US crypto bill fails in the Senate

Sixty votes were needed. The Clarity Act secured 49, failing to achieve even a simple majority. Not a single Democrat voted in favour. Four Republicans voted against. The story of a failure, and what it leaves behind: two regulators drafting rules in isolation that the next administration could dismantle.

Five protocols printed bitcoin that did not exist

Ten days, five incidents, one single underlying flaw: convincing a system that a deposit had taken place. The biggest theft of the year was made possible by a patch that had been lying dormant for a month in a public repository. And the gap between 336,000 dollars and 319 million is not down to the severity of the bug.

Top 5

The five largest cryptocurrencies aren’t tied to a specific theme in this portfolio, so each can be analysed individually. That said, each one belongs to its own distinct narrative.

ARB / AVAX / ADA

Layer 1&2

Layer 1: the main blockchain, which secures and validates transactions (BTC, ETH, ADA). Layer 2: a solution built on top of Layer 1, speeding things up and cutting costs (e.g. ARB).

ONDO / LINK

RWA (Real World Assets)

RWAs (Real World Assets) represent the tokenisation of physical and financial assets (real estate, bonds, equities, commodities) on the blockchain. This sector aims to bring traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralised finance (DeFi) closer together by adding liquidity, accessibility and transparency.

TAO / AKT / FET

AI

AI and blockchain are joining forces to create cryptos able to optimise data management, automate processes and democratise access to computing power.

SAND / IMX

GameFi

Decentralised gaming (GameFi) merges video games and blockchain, letting players truly own their digital assets and monetise them.

AAVE / INJ

DeFi

DeFi (Decentralised Finance) removes financial intermediaries and lets anyone access decentralised banking services directly through the blockchain.

DOGE

Memecoins

Memecoins are cryptos born out of jokes or viral trends, with no real utility. Their value rests solely on speculation and community hype.

CHZ / AUDIO

Other

The “Other” category is a more flexible space in the portfolio, for cryptocurrencies that don’t fit a precise narrative but are still of strategic interest.

USDT or USDC

Stablecoin

Stablecoins play a key role in a portfolio, even though they’re often underestimated. Pegged to a stable fiat currency (USD), they offer an alternative to volatile cryptos while enabling fast transactions, accessible at any time.
